5 Oscar Nominations for The Black Swan

The Black Swan, the surprise thriller of 2010 has been nominated by The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences in five prestigious categories for The Oscar. Nominated for Best Picture are Producers of The Black Swan, Mike Medavey, Brian Oliver and Scott Franklin. In the Category of Best Director, Director Darren Aronofsky has been nominated. Matthew Libatique for Cinematography and Andrew Weisblum for Film Editing of The Black Swan have also been nominated for Oscars. A heavy favorite for her deeply moving performance in The Black Swan, Natalie Portman has been awarded the Oscar Nomination for Best Actress in A Leading Role for her portrayal of Nina Sayers in this dramatic, dark, intriguing look behind the scenes of a Ballet Production.

The Black Swan offers a captivating look at the making of a Ballet with a psychological twist. Throughout the film the Sets that include the back stage dressing rooms of the dancers offer a realistic peek into the disciplined world of the Ballet. Carefully detailed, the Set Directors included Mehron Makeup on the dressing room tables of the dancers. Mehron Makeup has been a fixture on the dressing room tables of Ballet Stars and Starlets for decades. Seven years before George Balanchine voyaged to America to start the school that would be the birth place of the America Ballet in New York City, Mehron Makeup was a popular favorite of performance dancers. From the stages of Vaudeville and Burlesque to the over the top Musicals of Hollywood, dancers from every genre use Mehron Makeup, Ballet Dancers are no exception.

This year's Academy Award Show will be held on February 27, 2011 and will be Broadcast on the ABC Network. The First Academy Awards were presented for the 1927/1928 Film Season on May 16, 1929 at the Hotel Roosevelt in Hollywood. As The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences celebrates their 83rd year of saluting those who create films, Mehron Makeup celebrates its 83rd year of producing Professional Theatrical Makeup for the Film Industry.
