Is My Halloween Makeup Hypoallergenic?

Mehron Makeup For Halloween
Do you wonder if your Halloween Makeup is Hypoallergenic? Well according to the FDA the term hypoallergenic is not really quantified. You see, a Federal Court struck down an FDA regulation that required cosmetic manufacturers to provide tests to back up any claims that their makeup was hypoallergenic. Without any regulation or supporting tests cosmetic manufacturers are able to label their product hypoallergenic. So where does this leave the consumer when buying makeup?

This leaves the consumer of Halloween Makeup to be their own regulator. Know what you are buying, and know that the Company you buy your Makeup from is a reputable Makeup Company. The FDA does require that the ingredients be listed on the labels. If you know that you are allergic to certain ingredients you can avoid buying Makeup that contains that substance. Don't fall for false claims of "hypoallergenic", the key is to look for a Makeup Company that believes in using quality ingredients and has a reputation for producing quality makeup.

Mehron has been producing Makeup since 1927, it is still made in the USA and they still use quality ingredients to produce a quality makeup. If you are unsure you will have an allergic reaction to a makeup, do a self test.

Shelli Farber is a makeup expert and the Education Manager at Mehron. She offered great tips for parents using makeup on their children for Halloween in A Woman’s Day Special Halloween Publication. Shelli advised parents that they should test for allergic reactions a few days before Halloween by placing a bit of the makeup that will be used behind the ear or on a forearm; the last thing a parent wants is an allergic reaction on Halloween!

Mehron does not label their Makeup as hypoallergenic because someone somewhere might be allergic to a particular substance, but for over 80 years millions upon millions of People have used Mehron Makeup. Mehron Makeup has been trusted by the Performers of Vaudeville, The Clowns of Ringley Barnum Bailey, Actors and Actresses on Broadway and by Makeup Artists throughout the Movie Industry for decades. The Mehron reputation speaks for itself, but anyone can be allergic to something, so take a tip from Shelli Farber, Education Manager at Mehron, and test for allergic reactions a few days before Halloween by placing a bit of the makeup that will be used behind the ear or on a forearm, this is great advice for everyday makeup use.

Mehron was founded by Mehron Melik in 1927, who made his makeup by hand with handpicked ingredients and sold it to the Performers in New York City in person. Over 80 Years later, Mehron, under the leadership of Martin Melik still believes the best way to sell Makeup is to make a product with quality ingredients that can be trusted by all.
