And The Nominees For Makeup Are.........

Academy Award Nominee for MakeupJohn Caglione, Jr. and Conor O'Sullivan for The Dark Night. Mr. Caglione was the Makeup Artist for Heath Ledger as The Joker in The Dark Night and he shares the Academy Award nomination with Conor O'Sullivan, founder of The Silicone Solution, which offers a new solution to applying silicone prosthetics along with courses in their application.

John Caglione, Jr. was bitten by the Makeup Artist bug at an early age and at the age of 18 became a protege of the legendary Makeup Artist Dick Smith, whose credits include The Godfather and The Exorcist. Mr. Caglione's credit include his first gig with NBC Television where he honed his craft applying beauty makeup to news anchors and soap opera actors and actreses. In the 1970's a new show was being introduced by NBC to fill the Saturday late night slot. John was called upon to do the Makeup for this exciting new show created by Lorne Michael, called Saturday Night Live.

Throughout the years John Caglione, Jr. has worked on some of the biggest films of a generation, including Dick Tracy, for which he won The Academy Award and The British Academy Award for Best Makeup. John's truly inspiring Makeup work has run the gamut of assignments from Woody Allen's Zielg to the Dark Knight, currently nominated for Best Makeup by the Academy.

The perfection of The Joker Makeup becomes even more amazing when you learn that he had to replicate the makeup exactly from one side of the Atlantic to the other as the Christopher Nolan Film, The Dark Knight was filmed in both the USA and the UK.
