Mehron Makeup would like to congratulate Ms. Natalie Portman on winning the Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the 83rd Annual Academy Awards. Ms. Portman took home the Oscar for her portrayal of Nina Sayers in the Darren Aronofsky Film, The Black Swan. In a challenging role in which Natalie Portman plays a ballet dancer who takes on the role of Princess Odetta in the ballet, The Black Swan, Ms. Portman uses her physical as well as her mental skills to immerse herself in a character within a character. Based on a story by Andres Heinz and a screenplay written with co-writers Mark Heyman and John J. McLaughlin, The Black Swan is a Thriller, A Mystery and a Dramatic film all rolled into one. With a Makeup Department consisting of twelve Makeup Artists and Hair Stylists, The Black Swan featured the Makeup of Ballet Performers along with Special Effects and Prosthetic Makeup Designs to enhance the performance of Natalie Portman in her Oscar Winning Role.
Mehron Makeup was prominently featured throughout the film in the dressing rooms of the ballet performers. Set at Lincoln Center in New York City, Mehron Makeup is no stranger to the dressing rooms of the American Ballet Production. Mehron Makeup has been serving the Professional Performance Community longer than the Academy Awards have been presented, and has been on the Makeup on dressing room tables of Ballet Companies in America since their beginnings.
