Taking Bodypainting to The Streets

Although Body Painting with Makeup has become more main stream in recent years, there are still places where it might not be a good idea to take Body Painting, like in the middle of Times Square in New York City, NY. Artist Andy Golub found out that a Body Painting exhibition of nude models on the the streets of Manhattan on July 30, 2011 was not well received by the NYPD. Although he has done Body Painting outdoors at New York City Landmarks before, this time he stretched the limits by having his models remove their g-strings which keeps Body Painting within the bounds of the obscenity laws.

A traditional Canvas Artist, Mr Golub, who now resides in South Nyak, NY, not far from Mehron Headquarters, where he often visits to purchase Mehron Liquid Makeup and Paradise Makeup AQ for his Body Painting endeavors. Andy discovered Body Painting after he began to paint other objects such as car parts, surfboards and even cars. After painting a mannequin, he decided that a real live body would be an interesting canvas, and so began his Body Painting in 2006 at an Artexpo.

Since 2006, Andy Golub has been pushing Body Painting to the limits with his public exhibitions on the streets of New York, as he related to Reporter Nathan Burstein, who published an article on August 9, 20111 for the New York Post entitled, Lewd Awakening, NYC Painter Displays Naked Ambition and has a close brush with the law, “When I started painting outdoors, it became an interaction that included the public. When people see a nude model, it’s like, ‘Wow’ — it makes them look at things differently.”

The Art of Body Painting is constantly evolving and Artists like Andy Golub are always looking for the next level to which to take their Art, however, taking it to the streets just might be pushing the envelop a little too far unless you are willing to get tangled up in law for your Art.

Body Painting Models Always Wanted

Body Painting Model painted by Jinny Houle
The canvas for Body Painting Artists is the human body. To practice their craft Body Painting Artists are always in need of volunteer models. The interest in Body Painting is growing rapidly, as an art form as well as a competitive event. Artists from all walks of life are gravitating to the living art of Body Painting. Makeup Artists naturally are attached to the art of Body Painting as the ultimate expression of their craft. Painters and sculptors are being drawn to Body Painting by the uniqueness of creating living art. Body Painting Artists

As an Artist becomes more involved in the passion of Body Painting, volunteer models become important to the progression of the art. A lot of Body Painting Artists sketch out their ideas, nothing can bring them into the proper dimension than a model. Ultimately a living canvas is what the Body Painting Artist needs to see the true dimensions of their vision.

As a Body Painting Model, one can expect long hours and little or no pay. Body Painting Makeup should always be used if you decide to volunteer as a Model for a Body Painter, paint is for canvas, walls, and paper not for skin. You should be sure that the Body Painting Artists who will "paint" you is using safe Makeup, not acrylic paint or any other kind of paint. Professional Body Painting Makeup can be removed with soap and water, darker colors may require Professional Makeup removers, but never paint remover, paint thinners or other hazardous paint removers.

Professional Body Painting Artists can thank their models for their time by beginning with Velvet Finish Primer by Mehron. A spa treatment in a bottle, Mehron's new Velvet Finish Primer contains skin absorbent Vitamins C and E, powerful anti-oxidants that prevent skin damage from age, pollution and weather along with Aloe Vera and moisturizing ingredients that deeply moisturize the skin. Body Makeup Artists should keep a stock of Velvet Finish Primer as a taken of thanks for their models. You may not be able to thank your volunteer model with a gift certificate to a spa, you can give them a spa treatment with Velvet Finish Primer.

To insure that even the darker colors of Body Painting Makeup are easily removed a layer of Barrier Spray is recommended to create a layer between the skin and Makeup. Barrier Spray was originally developed to limit perspiration for Stage Performers, now it has found a new use in the Makeup Collection of Body Painting Makeup Artists.

College Bowl Fan Makeup

Body Painting Makeup for College Bowl Fans, Show your Team Colors with Makeup by MehronThe College Football Bowl Schedule will be in full swing over the next few weeks culminating with the New Year's Day Bowl games. For fans of College Football it is the last exciting games of another long college football season. For the lucky college football teams that make it to the Bowl Games it means national exposure for the players, bands, and fans. The college football players know that national television audiences in the millions will be watching them, including scouts from the NFL. The college bands will be putting on their best halftime performances because they also know that most will be televised to audiences that have never seen their show. Then there are the fans, cheering, decked in school regalia and even painted in school colors. The television cameras always capture fans that have painted their bodies in the team colors for the big event. What the television cameras don't capture is the day after when the body painted fans of the college team struggle to remove the paint that they used to show their team spirit on Bowl Game Day.

As with everything in life there is a right way and a wrong way to accomplish something. The wrong way to paint your body in support of your team with school colors is to use paint. The right way to paint your skin with team colors is use Makeup that was manufactured specially to be applied to skin. Not only is is safer and healthier for your skin, but Body Painting Makeup is easier to apply and easier to remove than paint. Although Body Painting is an art which is proliferating in this century, the name is a misnomer. Body Painting is accomplished with Makeup not paint.

The Art of Body Painting - Paradise Makeup AQ

Alex Hansen, World renowned Body Painting ArtistA sure sign that the Art of Body Painting will continue to flourish is that the ad agencies are seeking out some of world's leading Body Painting Artists to use their artistic talents for commercial advertising. The Art of Body Painting continues to mature with International Competitions and the competitors receiving more coverage around the world in the press. The artistic creations of Body Painters is so phenomenally unusual that it is instantly appreciated with amazement. Now that the main stream advertising companies have seen the art progress, they realize that the commercial possibilities virtually endless. Body Painting Artists continue to mature as they practice their art and are presented with new tools and colors to use in the creation of their art.

Body Painting is an art that has been predominately practiced by Makeup Artists, as the medium is Makeup not paint. The biggest mistake that novice Body Painters make is trying to use paint. Not only is paint not the proper texture for skin application it is unsafe for human absorption. In Body Painting, the skin of the body is the canvas. Remembering that the skin is the body's largest organ is essential when practicing the art of Body Painting. Body Painting is an art that requires two people to practice, the model and the artist. The safety of the Model should always be taken into consideration when creating Body Art. Body Art requires safe, non-toxic, anti-abrasive makeup to protect the skin of the model which is the canvas of the Body Painting Artist. In order to protect the canvas only Body Painting Makeup should be used.

For Artists who normally paint on canvas and are now trying Body Painting, Paradise Makeup AQ is the perfect Makeup to use for your transition from canvas to skin. Paradise Makeup AQ is a water activated cake makeup that can be applied with brushes with the same technique as water colors or oil paint. Artists who are proficient with brushes and paint will find Paradise Makeup AQ a very similar experience. The hues and shades of colors can be changed by the lightness or heaviness of the brush stroke, the brushing technique or the blending of colors. The range of colors in the Paradise Makeup AQ selection is an artists dream. Paradise Makeup AQ is available in both Primary Colors and Speciality Colors with new color introductions always in progress as the art demands. Paradise Makeup AQ was co-created by an Artist, Jinny Houle, a World renowned Makeup Artist who has taken home first place in numerous Face Painting and Body Painting Competitions throughout the world, and it is manufactured by Mehron, Leaders in Theatrical Makeup since 1927. Mehron Makeup has always been made in the USA from selected ingredients free from animal testing.

Along with Paradise Makeup AQ - Brushes , artists who have normally worked in piant on canvas should have no problem transferring their talents to the Art of Body Painting. Many world renowned Body Painters are also sculptors and painters who were drawn to the creative possibilities of the Art of Body Painting. Every Artist knows that the proper brushes and quality paint are essential in pursuing artistic creations, the same applies to the Art of Body Painting, it is essential to use the proper Body Painting Makeup and the proper tools of the trade such as Paradise Makeup AQ - Brushes . Body Painting textures and applications can be enhanced by applying Paradise Makeup AQ with sponge makeup applicators. Just as with any art form Body Painting is an art that is only limited by imagination and skills of the artist when the proper tools are used. Paradise Makeup AQ along with Paradise Makeup AQ - Brushes may be the beginning of an entirely new artistic endeavor. Working on a living canvas producing a temporary art is in itself a new experience for most artists.

Because the actual Body Painting is a temporary art, Body Painting is an art form reliant upon another art form in order to be shared on a mass scale. The Art of Photography is an essential
tool for the Body Painting Artist to be able to preserve the artistic creation. It becomes a natural progression in the evolution of Body Painting for the advertising industry to capture this art in print and on video. Body Painting as an art is undoubtedly unusual, but also extremely fascinating.
