Halloween Zombies

The Zombie, as part of the myth of literature, first surfaced on the big screen in the 1932 film, White Zombie. Ahead of its time, White Zombie, starring Bela Lugosi, was previewed on June 16, 1932 in a 74 minute long cut which opened in New York City to less than stellar reviews. The distributed print of White Zombie was cut to 62 minutes, which was sixty two minutes long for most film critics. Aside from Lugosi, the rest of the cast of White Zombie was comprised of silent film actors whose careers were waning. White Zombie became more appreciated as time went on, even becoming a quasi cult hit when released on VHS. The significance of White Zombie is that it was the first full length film to introduce the mystery and darkness of The Zombie to mass audiences.

Since White Zombie, many other films concerning Zombies in different incarnations have been released with the most popular being The Night of The Living Dead by George A. Romero in 1968. In The Night of the Living Dead, the Zombie is depicted as the dead who won't stay dead.

Throughout, the modern era The Zombie has been depicted as the risen dead, the reincarnated dead, the living dead, and those under the influence of a master without free will. In the most recent resurgence of The Zombie Myth, Zombies are seen to be humans who are controlled by alien parasites.

Science has also taken an interest in the myth of The Zombie, with many physiologists focusing on the practice of Voodoo and the drugs used in its practices in Haiti and Africa. Voodoo is filled with the legends of Zombies who walk among the living without free will. Scientists from many disciplines have examined Zombie Folklore looking for a way to discredit The Zombie as a myth.

Led by FX Makeup Artist Meagan Hester, a Mehron Makeup Artist Team met on October 6, 2010 at 222 East 44th Street in New York City, NY, the studio where the Rachael Ray Show is taped. The mission that this Mehron Makeup Artist Team accepted was to turn ordinary people into Halloween Characters. Only blocks from where Mehron Makeup was founded eighty three years ago, this Mehron Makeup Artist Team came armed with ammunition from the Mehron Makeup arsenal, including Makeup from The Extreme Beauty Makeup Collection, The Special Effects Makeup Line, and of course The Theatrical Makeup Products that has been in the dressing rooms of New York Theaters since 1927.

Freelance Makeup Artist Meagan Hester coordinated the Mehron Makeup Artist Team of Mia Baumam, Jason Milan, Fiona Tyson, Mary Czech, and Assistant Marisa Callori who worked on the FX ZOMBIE Makeup for dozens who showed up for this special Halloween Rachael Ray Show. Basic Makeup was handled by Makeup Artists, Jordana David, Renardo Joy, Charlene Armstrong, Mindy Gentilesco, Shameika Bowman and Stella Barber.

Hairstyling for the Special Halloween Rachael Ray Show scheduled to air on October 29, 2010 was performed by the Hair Stylists, Nathalia Velsquez, Candice Crawford, Eric Williams, Marisol Henriquez, Damon Alfonso, Melissa, Frankie Campbell, Adriana Padila, with the assistance of Marisol.

Both the Mehron Makeup Artist Team and the Hairstyling Team worked quickly and efficiently to finish the Halloween Look for dozens of people who participated in the Special Halloween Rachael Ray Show. After a day of scheduling conflicts Mehron Makeup and 24 Prince Restaurant were the subject of a report by the Feature Reporter Lisa Mateo on PIX 11 Morning News, a New York City Television Station that has covered the New York Tri-State Area for decades. Included in the Michael Jackson Theme Halloween Weekend at 24 Prince Restaurant will be a Haunted Neverland Dinner and Party Saturday, October 31st Halloween Night Dinner, with two seating times at 6PM and 10pm followed by the Halloween Party and Costume Party. Attendees are encouraged to pick a Michael Jackson persona or one of the colorful characters who surrounded him throughout his life.
