Artists from all walks of life are gravitating to the exciting field of Face and Body Painting, Cheryl Painter is one of those stories. Always artistically inclined, Cheryl painted murals and her Children's Faces for Halloween throughout the years. After retiring from a career in Law Enforcement where she rose to the rank of Sergeant in a New Jersey Police Force, Ms. Painter was called upon to fill in at a local picnic as a Face Painter when the scheduled Face Painter abruptly cancelled. Taking on the challenge as a favor and relying on her Artistic abilities, Cheryl enjoyed her maiden voyage as a Face Painter and even booked another job.
As the word spread of the Face Painting by Cheryl Painter, she soon found herself not exactly retired, but also not pulling over speeders. As her schedule became full of bookings she began to research the various face paints on the market and emailed Face Painters she had come across and asked their opinions. From her research she discovered that Mehron Paradise Makeup AQ was a safe makeup for face painting and came in an array of colors that would enable her to expand the creativity of her face painting.
Cheryl decided to attend the 2007 Face and Body Art International Convention and was awed by the talents of Jinny, Mark Reid and Pashur. Thinking about the possibilities Cheryl Painter returned home from FABAIC with an itch to paint a body. While showing her photos of FABAIC to a co-worker and discussing her interest in painting a body, Cheryl got her first volunteer. The co-worker became the canvas for Ms. Painter's first Body Painting. " I thought it was so beautiful and the canvas was so much more than just the face- there was room for more creativity- ", Cheryl recently told the Mehron Blog.
One Body Painting led to another and soon Cheryl realized that she had found a niche in Body Painting Clothing. Armed with a collection of Mehron Paradise Makeup AQ and a head full of visions Cheryl began regularly doing Body Paintings. Her First Full Body Painting was a Cow Girl. As Cheryl tells us, " I painted a full cowgirl and my first pair of jeans, which I was itching to try after watching Mark Reid paint them" After a regional hit with a Body Painting of a Philadelphia Phillies Jersey that became a cell phone texting phenomenon during the Phillies World Series Win Cheryl knew she was anchored to a new career.
With a vision of a retro pinup girl in her mind, Cheryl spotted an Ad by a photographer, Alice Marie, searching for a Body Painter for a photo shoot and answered it. After meeting Alice Marie and the model Danielle Hawley, Cheryl told them about her retro pinup girl idea. Everyone agreed to try it, and Ms. Painter using Paradise Makeup AQ accomplished her vision by turning Danielle Hawley into a 1940's style pinup girl with a full body painting.
The successful Body Painting and photo shoot led to an assignment at the Playboy Mansion for a benefit for wounded soldiers. "I just came back from the Playboy Mansion after painting at a military benefit party for wounded warriors. I painted 15 models in 10 hours and used your cake paradise paint and your liquid makeup. I actually had a few bottles of liquid Mehron mailed out to a friend in California in case my luggage got lost or delayed, so I would not show up at the Playboy Mansion without any paint- that would have been a problem.", Cheryl explained.
Obviously the combination of Cheryl Painter's talent in Body Painting along with the Mehron Makeup that she loves to use will lead her to other adventures as she continues to sail through the world of Body Painting.
