The Garuda Fashion Show

Continuing with his tradition of Themed Fashion Presentations, Mr. Toni Francesc, Fashion Designer, presented his latest creations in a Show entitled Garuda on February 12, 2011 at The Studio, Lincoln Center, New York City for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Joining Mr. Francesc in his presentation for the third consecutive New York Fashion Week was a Team of Professional Makeup Artists keyed by Celebrity Makeup Artist Jackie Mgido. Using Mehron Professional Beauty Makeup, Ms. Mgido and team embellished the Models unveiling the Garuda Collection. Using accenting and complimenting Fashion Makeup from the Mehron Collections of Professional Makeup, Jackie Mgido and The Mehron Makeup Artist Team completed the Look that Toni Francesc was seeking for the presentation of his latest fashions. A selection from the Garuda Collection by Toni Francesc at Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week, features a pattern reflective of the natural habitat of the Indonesian Garuda.

In India, Garuda is depicted as a silver and black bird of prey, this creation by Toni Francesc features the black and silver of ancient India's version of Garuda, accented with gold it hints at the other interpretations of Garuda where it is envisioned as a golden bird. L.I.P. Cream by Mehron, brings in yet another version of Garuda, where it is said to be a fiery red.

The classic interpretation of Garuda as a Golden Bird, is reflected in this stunning gold Toni Francesc design with tight cuts to represent the strength of Garuda and free flowing fabric to represent the flight of freedom of the Garuda. Mehron E.Y.E. Lashes in Feather Cut accented by Black Onyx E.Y.E. Powder hints at the keen powerful sight of the Garuda.

Garuda as a red winged bird, free, daring and willing to take chances are highlighted in this amazingly colored pattern and tailored cuts of this Toni Francesc design from the 2011 New York Fashion Week Show. The vibrant lips created by the Mehron Makeup Artist Team using L.I.P. Cream and L.I.P. Liner Pencil accentuates shades of red in this amazing dress.

Another tribute to the color mythologies of the Garuda are reflected in this Francesc Original, the broader top cut hints at the tales of the wing span of Garuda.

A Look Back at Fashion Week

Keep Your Eyes on the Runway

Only a few days until the world's top fashion designers converge on the runways of New York City. Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week begins on September 10th and runs through the 17th. The 2009 Fashion Week marks the first year that Mehron will be a major participant in New York Fashion Week. Teaming up with Greek Fashion Designer Vassilios Kostestos, Mehron will present their ever expanding line of Extreme Beauty Makeup, a public premier in 2009 of Mehron's newest entries into the field of Beauty Makeup.

The Makeup Room at Fashion Week

Through the camera lens of Richard Esposito we get a behind the scenes look at the Mehron Makeup Room where the Mehron Makeup Team prepared the models for the Toni Francesc Fashion Collection, Urban Forest at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week presentation on September 14, 2010. For the Fall 2010 Fashion Week the Mehron Makeup Team was comprised of a blend of Makeup Artist specialists that included, Jackie Mgdio, Raedawn Johnson, Meagan Hester, Annabel Vargas, Kimberly Anderson, Krista Pruent and Amy Zudnowski-Roeder. Using a selection of Mehron Makeup that included, Celebré Pro HD Make-Up, E.Y.E. Lashes, E.Y.E. Cream, Yellow Paradise Makeup AQ, Metallic Powder, and CHEEK Cream along with Mehron Makeup Brushes and Applicators, The Mehron Makeup Team worked to meet the deadline of the nine o'clock show. With a flurry of activity The Professional Makeup Artist Team of Mehron Makeup completed eighteen models in record time to compliment the theme Designer Toni Francesc envisioned with his Urban Forest Collection.

The Foundation of the Makeup for New York Fashion Week was the Cream Foundation of the Future by Mehron, Celebré Pro HD Make-Up, with a shade for every skin tone.

The models of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week highlighted eye makeup which has been a growing trend. Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week

IMG productions will present the final Fashion Show at Bryant Park, New York City on February11-18, 2010 featuring the Fall 2010 Collections of Fashion Designers from around the World presented at the 2010 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Plans are to move Fashion Week further Uptown after this Springs Presentation to the Lincoln Center Complex near Central Park. The Spring 2010 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Show will always be remembered as the end of the Bryant Park Fashion Show Era.

Bryant Park sits behind the world famous New York Public Library and is in the shadows of the Garment District of Manhattan. Many stalwarts of the Fashion Industry will lament the move from the original home of New York Fashion. The success of New York Fashion Week is the reason for the demise of the famous Bryant Park Venue. The Fall 2009 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week drew over 230,000 visitors making it a Herculean logistical feat to accommodate everyone under the famous white tents of Bryant Park Fashion Week. For audience accommodation and logistics the new Lincoln Center venue may prove to be a friendly environment, however for the Design Houses who usually have a presence in the Garment District of Manhattan, the Lincoln Center venue means that they will have to deal with transporting their Collections uptown and any repairs or alterations will have to be made on unfamiliar territory. Part of the charm of the Bryant Park Venue was seeing racks of famous designer clothing being wheeled on racks down the busy New York City Streets to Bryant Park from the Garment District only blocks away. The new uptown location will mean that Collections will have to be trucked uptown. Designers may opt to present their own Collections at their Own Showrooms thus loosing the cohesiveness of Fashion Week in New York City. Putting aside the politics and logistics of continuing to stage Fashion Week in Bryant Park, the February 2010 Show promises to be one that is remembered as a marker in Fashion Industry History.

The Fall 2009 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week presentation was a milestone for Mehron Makeup, it marked the first time that Mehron Beauty Makeup walked the Runways of this iconic Fashion Event. For the final Bryant Park Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Show, Mehron will again participate by joining with two Designers as they present their Collections at this Historic Bryant Park Fashion Week Event.
