Strange Thing Happens

Strange Thing Happens from Alexander Khudokon on Vimeo.

Organized by the Festival de Cannes, the Short Film Corner is a presentation Site for the Short Film Maker, enabling them to have their film registered, viewed and placed in the digital library where industry insiders and financiers have access to the film. Strange Thing Happens is a film by Alexander Khudokon, Directed by Martin Toro starring Martin Lombard, Facundo Lombard, Antonio Paula, Emma Agerwald and Courtney Graff was entered into the Short Film Corner of the 2011 Festival de Cannes.

Mehron Studio and Stage Makeup was used in the making of Strange Thing Happens which was filmed in Yonkers, New York with almost thirty extras participating in the film. Written by Alenader Khudokon and Martin Toro, and filmed in Black and White, Strange Thing Happens is part of a trilogy. The Mehron Studio and Stage Makeup was applied by Makeup Artist Meagan Hester who has to take into account that the film was a black and white production. Since its founding in 2011 Mehron Makeup has added a rainbow of colors to its makeup collection since the days of black and white silent films, but as Meagan Hester has shown in Strange Thing Happens, Mehron Studio and Stage Makeup is perfect for every film production.

Mehron Studio and Stage Makeup has been around since every film was a Black and White Production. In using Mehron Studio and Stage Makeup for Strange Things Happen, Meagan Hester joined her counterparts from the past in working with makeup for a black and white film. Ms. Hester has used Mehron Makeup for many projects including Mehron Special Effects Stage Blood and Mehron Extreme Beauty Makeup, detailing for a black and white production requires controlling the makeup application so that it is captured correctly by the shadows of black and white film.

Kim Kardashian Tells a Hair Secret

Kim Kardashian Tells a Hair Secret, It's Mehron Makeup
Only her hairdresser knows for sure was once the catch phrase of a hair dye that was popular in the late 1960;s to 1970's in the USA. In a Special Hair Issue of InStyle Magazine for Spring 2011, Kim Kardashian reveals what her hair dresser knows in 2011. dynamic looking hair highlights can be created without hair dye. Ms. Kardashian lets the world know that the way her hair stylist gave her hair golden shimmering highlights was with Mehron Metallic Powder, combined with Mehron Mixing Liquid. Yes, it is Body Makeup, Yes, it is Face Accenting Makeup, Yes, it is Hair Makeup, Mehron Metallic Powder combined with Mehron Mixing Liquid creates a shimmering makeup in either gold, silver, bronze or copper that can be used from head to toe.

With a schedule like Kim Kardashian, saving time is as important as looking great when you get there. With Mehron Metallic Powder and Mixing Liquid both goals are achieved. The shimmering highlights produced can be painted into hair with a brush, allowing for total control of the thickness of every highlight and enables the hair stylists to add accents even on a finished style Metallic Powder by Mehron allows for total accenting control in a minutes. With the Liquid Makeup created with Metallic Powder and Mixing Liquid there is no messy cleanup, no noxious fumes, no burning, and any errand application can be washed out in minutes.

What used to take hours to do with highlighting dye can now be done with safe, shimmering Metallic Powder and Mixing Liquid just as the Hairstylist for Kim Kardashian did for her. The legendary Hair Stylist Oribe, used Mehron Liquid Body Painting Makeup to finish unique Hair Styling Designs that he created for hundreds of attendees in Las Vegas in 2010. Just One Year Later, Mehron Liquid Body Painting Makeup and Metallic Powder with Mixing Liquid have become a part of the Hairstylist's repertoire.

After watching how easily her Hairstylists mixed the powder and mixing liquid and how quickly he applied it with just a brush, Ms. Kardashian knows that she can do it too. One of the biggest benefits of leaning to use Metallic Powder and Mixing Liquid is that today you can have silver highlights, the next day gold, tired of gold, change to bronze, all easily applied and easy to wash out. Mehron has been producing Makeup since 1927, using safe active ingredients along with an eight decade knowledge of pigmentation. Not only could Kim apply her own highlights in minutes with Mehron, but when the day is over, the "highlights" made with Mehron Body Painting Makeup can be washed away.

In Memory of Sidney Lumet

In Memory of Sidney Lumet 1924-2011
Sidney Lumet was born on June 25, 1924, three years before the Foundation of Mehron Makeup.Throughout the years the life of Sidney Lumet and Mehron Makeup led parallel existences. Although born in Philadelphia Mr. Lumet became a New Yorker and loved it till his death on April 9, 2011. With parents who were dedicated veterans of the stage it was a natural transformation for Sidney to appear on the stage at the age of 5, two years after Mehron Makeup began distributing Theatrical Makeup to the Performers of New York's thriving Theatrical Productions. It is almost a certainty that Sidney Lumet became acquainted with Mehron Theatrical Makeup as he he spent his childhood performing on the stages of New York. By the time he was eleven years old, Sidney was starring in Broadway Plays, including the 1935 production of The Eternal Road. As Sidney was spending his formative years performing on and off Broadway, Mehron Makeup was becoming a Theatrical Makeup that was sought by the Producers, Directors and Performers of the New York Theater. At the age of fifteen in 1939 Sidney Lumet was cast in his only full length film, One Third of a Nation.

His acting career was interrupted by service in World War II, and upon his return to New York, Mr. Lumet became involved with the famous Actors Studio until he formed his own workshop and started on the path to becoming a Director. While honing his skills as a Director, Sidney Lumet began teaching at the New York High School of Performing Arts. His Directing of Summer Stock Theater led him to become a highly respected director in television. Taking the same twists and turns as a Theatrical Makeup Company, Mehron Makeup had to adapt to the new frontier of Film and Television Makeup at the same time that Mr. Lumet was adapting to directing in these new arenas of entertainment. While his Television Directing Credits grew to legendary proportions, his first movie 12 Angry Men starring Henry Fonda and Lee J. Cobb in 1957 met with critical acclaim.

Throughout the 1950's as Mehron Makeup produced Theatrical Makeup for Film, Television and Stage in New York. Sidney Lumet Directed for New York Television, Film and Stage throughout this decade, becoming know as the Director who could best adapt a Stage Production for Television and Film. Just as New York was the Home to Mehron Makeup it was the Home to Sidney Lumet. Mr. Lumet loved New York, the diversity, the look, the feel and the grit of New York became an integral part of his directing endeavors.

Although his illustrious career as a Director spanned the decades from the 1950's till his death in 2011, Sidney Lumet never won an Academy Award, but was honored by The Academy with a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005. Some of the most powerful movies ever made were directed by Sidney Lumet, film historians, fans, stars, producers and directors know a Sidney Lumet Film when they see it, but most are not aware that the movie that impacted their life was the work of this legend. Movies such as A View from The Bridge, Long Day's Journey into Night, The Pawnbroker. The Anderson Tapes, Serpico, Dog Day Afternoon, Network, The Wiz, The Verdict, Running on Empty, and so many more are all films from the heart and soul of Sidney Lumet, whose legacy will live in the work that he has left us.

As a showcase for the Art of Face and Body Painting with Makeup, The Face and Body Art International Convention (FABAIC) includes everyone, from novice to professional, with events, seminars, and workshops for all. The producers of FABAIC have made it a point to cultivate the interest of the young in exploring the Art of Face and Body Painting. At the 2011 FABAIC, Mark Reid, will be instructing a youth class in the Art of Face Painting just as he did last year with the assistance of Kelly Virgona, who came to Orlando, Florida from Australia. The children who attended the 2010 Workshop presented by Mark and Kelly gave their undivided attention to these natural instructors and left vowing to become Face Painting Makeup Artists. The June 9, 2010 Mehron Makeup News Blog covered the Mehron sponsored workshop for children at FABAIC presented by Kelly Virgona and Mark Reid in a Blog entitled:

The Children of FABAIC

The 2010 face and Body Art International Convention is now a memory, not only for the Professional Makeup Artists from around the world who attended, competed and enjoyed the week, but also for forty two children who will never forget their experience at FABAIC.
